Course Introduction

You’re a designer, and you’re good at designing. But design skills are one thing, and selling these skills is another story entirely. Suddenly, you’ll find that you also have to be a marketer.

The Web Portfolio Design course provides students with the opportunity to build an online portfolio for future employers and clients. Students learn how to identify their strengths and weaknesses as a designer, selecting works that best showcase their talents. Through feedback and critique, students will be guided through the process of creating and publishing their own online portfolio.

Course Prerequisites

Photoshop Basics, Dreamweaver 1, and HTML and CSS Essentials courses or equivalent experience.

Planning Your Web Portfolio; Portfolio Inspiration; Creating Your Plan; Planning the Portfolio Design; Considering the Content; Web Design Guidelines; Developing Your Portfolio Plan

Lesson 2:

Creating Your Portfolio; Selecting and Categorizing Work Samples; Preparing Your Work Samples for Your Site; Presenting Your Work; Drafting Your Portfolio Site; Creating Your First Draft Portfolio

Lesson 3:

Finalizing and Promoting Your Portfolio; The Finish Line; Your Site’s Social Presence; Search Engine Optimization; Additional Site Features; Wrapping It Up; Complete Your Portfolio Site

Course Notes

Evaluation is based solely on an Academy of Learning Career College final exam. Prior to taking the final exam, students must successfully complete all the components of the online course material. Participants who receive 75% or higher on their exam will receive a certificate.
