In the Fundamentals of Logo Design course, students will learn how to design logos that will strengthen the visual image of an organization. Students will explore logo development through a series of case studies. Each exercise combines a written, conceptual component with hands-on projects for creating effective logos.

Course Outline
Fundamentals of Logo Design
Module 1: The Research Stage
This module begins with a brief history of logotypes, looking at some of the historical influences on logo design. Students will then learn about research and its importance in logo design.
Module 2: The Design Stage
In this module, students explore what ideas and tools they require as a logo designer, and the necessary components of effective logo design.
Module 3: The Finalization Stage
Students will examine the importance of fine-tuning and the manipulation of positive and negative space. They will examine the aspects of logo design that make for strong brand recognition, and how to make a brand manual containing rules for logo usage.
Course Notes
Evaluation is based solely on an Academy of Learning Career College final exam. Prior to taking the final exam, students must successfully complete all the components of the online course material. Participants who receive 75% or higher on their exam will receive a certificate.
